A visit to the Royal Bangkok, Khmer New Year.

At the end of February 2015 I was arranging the use of a venue for a networking event and as I drove down the road a small boy pulled out on a bicycle. I braked, he braked and stopped, I continued moving and so did he. I slammed on my brakes as he glanced past me and I flew off the bike. I landed with a thud on my face and slammed my right side. Several people rushed to help with tissues and moving the bike. I couldn't see out of one eye and was really afraid for a moment, until I realised it was only blood in it and it was ok. We were round the corner from a friends hotel who came to help and sent me off to the Royal Bangkok. My cuts got a wipe down with some iodine and the doc shone a light in my eyes, $100 later I was done and on my way again. I ached and was a bit shaky for days and very grateful to friends who helped out whilst I felt utterly terrible.

I have some pictures of me with two black eyes and a grazed chin, but its not my best angle, so best leave them out hey?!

Even if you fall on your face, you're still moving forward. - Victor Kiam

March saw the Skills Fair from work, where we invite businesses and unis to the High School we work with in order to share with students information on careers and connect them to opportunities.

Whilst in one of the breaks my colleague introduced me to lotus seeds

Weirdly delicious like fresh peas from a pod.

April saw our work Khmer New Year party, with lots of traditional Khmer games, foods and fun...

Speeches and presents.

Games involving throwing the kroma (khmer scarf) and if you don't catch it you have o do a forfiet - this one also involves singing songs where you call each other names!

One of my colleagues made to do a silly dance as a forfiet.

Knocking the seeds down in the right order - get this one wrong and you get a crack on the knee with two seeds, they make a big clicking noise- and so does your knee, ouch!

Tamarind, like sticky jam in a pod.

Lots of dancing and running round at the hottest time of the year!

"It's easy to impress me. I don't need a fancy party to be happy. Just good friends, good food, and good laughs. I'm happy. I'm satisfied. I'm content." - Maria Sharapova

Next it was time for a dip in the Baray - so much more water in 2015 than 2016!

"This life is like a swimming pool. You dive into the water, but you can't see how deep it is." - Dennis Rodman

The dancing broke out...

...and soon it was time for the talc - the more talc the more luck for the coming year!
