One Friday evening I am sat in bed watching a movie and I hear hooves on the lawn, the horses have come for a visit. Still being at the curious stage, the little stripey kitten went to investigate as I called over one of the big horses.
"Curiosity killed the cat" - unknown
[lets hope not!]
The kitten was on the stoep and the huge horse on the grass. They sniffed each other and I don't know if the horse could not decide what the kitten was or could simply smell carnivore and jumped back.
This is one of the smaller (lighter coloured) horses- its hard to photograph dark horses in the dark.
Never before have I seen a 16 hand horse jump and run more than once at a 1 kilo kitten - more than once!

They really did not know what to make of her. Like an elephant with a mouse (if that story is true)!

On the work side, this month we have won a couple of grants and gotten one upped by 10K Euros, which is great news and enables us to do achieve tons more. Some other money has finally come in great news.

Baby baboon Sheela has taken to popping into the office to give all the staff regular cuddles in the morning before she goes back into the enclosure and in an evening when she comes out. Here she is in our office eating some left over muffin.
Cheeky chubby monkey!

After around a nine week absence a couple of weeks ago I finally saw my babies - they have grown and are really strong now. Cheeky as ever and desperate for cuddles. Then a few days later when I was in town for meetings, they pitched up at the farm. I figured it must be like the scene at the end of the Narnia film The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, when they reach the lamp post and start to recognise things and end up back where they came from.

Molly our mostly tame (if a little nippy) meerkat decided Migu needed a pal - either that or just wanted to steal her apples!

“Because the difference between a friend and a real friend is that you and the real friend come from the same territory, of the same place deep inside you, and that means you see the world in the same kind of way. You know each other even before you do.” ― Laura Pritchett
In a country where you can't always get hold of everything you want (especially having lived in London where you can get anything you want) sometimes you have to make a plan and in the absence of a bottle of this (cucumber gin)...

I made some myself...

...with predictable results...

The gin became milder with the cucumber flavour and the cucumber became lethal and numbed your mouth when you ate it.

Cue detox, until I can get my hands on the ingredients for the next cocktail...

Final word of wisdom (?)
"The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing."- Socrates
If this toothpaste comes out in your part of the world,

I would advise against buying it - it's like brushing your teeth with vicks vapour rub - urgh!
